There is this MOC that I have been working on, a znap/system/technic ferris
wheel. I have noticed a curious behaviour... for lack of a better description,
I call it rotational surging. The ferris wheel is driven (but not weight
supported on) a technic axle thru the center-axis. It appears that the axle
deforms (bends ?) slightly in a rotational manner then when it reaches a maximum
torque, the axle unloads the stored up torque and the ferris wheel moves forward
a little past the current position of the worm-gear / 24-tooth drive element
(call it surging), then slows down and repeats again. Are technic axles known
for this deforming behaviour ? (Esp when they are turning something of a high
relative mass) I have some pictures of the ferris wheel before the drive train
was installed ( can't get brickshelf to take new uploads tonight for some
reason. As soon as I can upload I will show the drive train pix).
