Per requests, I have added a few more photos of parts of the grandfather clock. The first may be found at: www.ericharshbarger....ages/clock eric (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

  Re: LEGO grandfather clock

All kidding aside, if he put in an RCX that would do that, he could also have it chime with it's built in sound ability. Mike Poindexter John Gerlach <john.gerlach@bestbu...om.nospam> wrote in message news:FonKH5.GIJ@lugnet.com... (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

  Re: LEGO grandfather clock

(...) Very, very nice! Well done! Now, your next project is to hook up a MindStorms RCX with a rotational sensor, to calibrate the grandfather clock with the RCX's internal clock. And, automatically wind the clock after a certain number of hours... (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

  Re: LEGO grandfather clock

(...) The clock does make a rhythmic tick-tock sound... actually closer to a click-clunk sound. I thought about a strike-train/chimes... but didn't want to go overboard [grin] -- the mechanics would be that much trickier... plus LEGO bricks don't (...) Wow. I can only repeat what others have said. Wow. I have one request - details of how the two hands are driven through the clockface. A closeup of the outside, center of the clockface would answer my questions. Thanks, and great work. -Wes (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

(...) we can tell how pleased you are with your creation! you almost cracked a pun! this _is_ your grandest creation so far! the inner workings are fascinating! your homespun gear looks like it could be an exhibit in ashley glennon's mini-fig museum (...)   Re: LEGO grandfather clock

(...) Hmm. Maybe Eric's only 12 inches tall, and the clock's not that big after all... I mean, do we have any independent verification of his height? In all seriousness, that is one amazing piece of sculpting. And to think I was thrilled when I (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

  Re: LEGO grandfather clock

(...) Wow! That is incredible! Now all you need is a little cuckoo to jump out every hour! :) Excellent job, I love the way the escapement gear looks-- did it need to have exactly 12 cogs, thanks to our backwards timekeeping standards of multiples (...)   Re: LEGO grandfather clock

Nice piece of work. Certainly impressive given the height and functionality. I like the doodads up on the top too. Nice touch. One thing I wonder about is what it sounds like - how much of a Grandfather-Clock-Like-Sound does it make? Does that great (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)
