For Xerxes I used 2 1x1 modified plates with horizontal holes? and put a gray lightsaber rod through them and then attached 1x2 modified plate with vertical holes. They are pretty poseable. I (...) Here's a challange that anyone can join: Start with a 2 x 8 brick, attach a 2 x 4 brick on it like so: (URL) add another 2 x 4 brick so that only one stud is attached to the 2 x 4 underneath it.
