Several months ago I built some LEGO SOMA puzzle cubes with six smooth sides. Now it was time to build something to store the cubes in. I saw that a few years ago Eric Harshbarger built a SOMA cube and nice storage box. Not wanting to just copy Eric’s idea, I built three versions of a hollow 8x8x8 cube with smooth sides and tops. All the storage cubes worked well, but I wanted something really different. Then I realized the best box may not be a box at all:







I used Bram’s great program to make Lowell style spheres (thanks Bram, thanks Bruce)

Then I just built the sphere in two halves and figured out a simple pedestal and hinge arrangement. Naturally I had to use dark red, my favorite LEGO color.
