FRED- Flashing Rear End Device
Full Gallery
(once moderated)
Inspired by one of John Neils hopper cars with an integrated FRED, I set out to
build my own for the double stacks. It took me a while to actually get one of
the smaller battery boxes, but you can see the result. Id like to hide the wire
better, but Im at a loss as to where to put it without majorly redesigning the
car and making it permanent.
This one has the FRED hanging in the coupler. A great use for the walky-talky,
the antenna fits in the hole of the coupler. The non-electric version is perhaps
the cheapest train car youll ever make (grin).
see wikipedia for more
info.
Comments/feedback always welcome.
