About a gate and a cross... oh and some new pictures of a temple

Hello! While tinckering a bit with some old and future projects, the following scene popped up: (URL) it would fit nice with the holidays :) It's also a nice excuse to kick up the ancient newsgroup a bit and to announce some better pictures of the (...) Hi, Casper. Wow, excellent construction on the temple and the gate. You did a particularly nice job with the temple roof. And everything is so smooth -- nary a stud point up. The interior shots are quite intriguing. Wish I could see them a little (...) (20 years ago, 8-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Brilliant work Casper, Portunis has always been one of my favorite mocs, and the new pics make me appreciate the details even more. The temple looks great from every angle. The only problem I have with you, is that you don't build enough! -Keith (20 years ago, 9-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

(...) I know Casper very good, and you know, it's not HIS fault that he doesn't build enough ancient-work... it's Lego's!?? :-) ?? Yes! If you look close to the details you spot the use of many, MANY jumperplates and tiles (normal grey of course). (...) (20 years ago, 9-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Hi Casper, I saw your Easter scene yesterday at brickshelf.com. Just great, the spread wide arms of Jesus Minifig using a tube is a great idea! Is the temple the one you've shown in Berlin last year? I'm working on an extension of my (URL) Venice> (...) (20 years ago, 9-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

Hello :) Thanks for the nice words. Yes the arms of "Jesus" are made with a little flex tube from a Technic Sub. the idea was passed on to me by Rene Kok (whom I'm very thankfull for this ;) ) (Oh the name of the picture has the name Brian in it, (...) (...) I like the flat tiles on the roof, the coffered ceiling, and the trophies (shields?) around the inside. Also the use of corrugated bricks as columns. I haven't been able to think any Lego piece to represent fluted drums like that. My only (...) (20 years ago, 17-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

(...) Simple asnwer... I don't like colour to much :) In grey the structure and lines of the building stand out better, so I kept it that way. With colours it very easy the look gets to "buzy". But I know, the buildings originaly would have been (...) (20 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)
