  PDF Instructions!

I have great news! By special arrangement, LEGO has made PDF versions of building instructions available through Brickshelf.com. Initially, this includes all pdf instructions through 2000, and we hope to receive newer instructions at appropriate (...) (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.announce.brickshelf) !!

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Is there a way to get the file size listed with the name? Some (most??) of those PDF's are HUGE! Thanks, James Wilson Dallas, TX Lugnet member #1783 (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) How about a thumbnail image to go along with the scan? Everything is fine if I'm browsing through LUGNET, but I like to browse the building instructions too. -Duane (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Actually, we plan on exporting every page of the pdfs to jpegs, similar to the scans for online viewing. We are still working out the bugs in that process, but I diddn't want that to delay getting the pdf's themselves online. KL (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) That is a great idea, and it would be useful in the Gallery too. KL (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

(...) Allow me to be the first to say "WOOHOO!" Kudos to you, Kevin - quite a coup! James (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

(...) Actually, that honor goes to Tom Stangl, 29 Sept 1998. See (URL) you are the first in this thread :-) ! James Wilson (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Wow! That is great news! I just printed a test page on my Epson CX5200, and it looks *wonderful*, maybe even *amazing*. (...) (21 years ago, 17-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Let me be the first to say YIPPEE! (in this thread...) I can't wait to try some of these! But I noticed a lot of the old technic sets (88-- series etc) aren't there - are TLC biased against technic??? :( Thanks Kevin, Brickshelf becomes more (...)   Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Thanks Kevin and all other people who made it possible, but i do have another question. Where's the 'People Search' option gone on Brickshelf 'Site Links'? I can't search anymore for some peoples folder, even mine. How should i search for a (...) (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

Could someone reference a particularly good example of a pdf instructional manual? I just downloaded #6047 and it doesn't look particularly good to me: it's quite blurry and half of each page is empty space. -- Hop-Frog (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Hey, Mr. Loch, thank you for this amazing resource that Lego and Brickshelf have had with us. Is really fantastic, but... please, keep the PDF in your page with jpegs too, because fast connections can download in one step instead in 100 (for (...)   Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Try this one: (URL) interesting to zoom in on the instructions and see the order used by the artist to compose the scene. I think it is a pretty safe bet that these things were created in Adobe Illustrator, and that no 3D modeling was used to (...) (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) That one does look and print very nicely. I would guess it's pretty much the original file from which TLC itself prints its own manuals -- I compared it to the available scans on Brickshelf and it looks the same. Such files would be an AMAZING (...) (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) Weird - just for kicks I tried zooming WAY in to the image (2000%). The vertical lines aren't actually vertical. I wonder if that was intentional, or 'just happened'... MANY thanks to LEGO© for providing these to the fan community! JohnG, (...) (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

Hi Kevin, with the new feature of splitting large galleries into multiple pages of 48 pics, I noticed a little bug today: If the gallery contains subfolders (e.g. 3 folders), the first page shows these 3 folder thumbnails and the first 45 gallery (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) I just fixed several bugs related to this feature. The fix for this specific problem is somewhat ungraceful, it now shows the first 48 files and the first 48 folders, then the next 48 of each and so on. At least there won't be any missing (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: PDF Instructions!

(...) This is good news. I looked and found that PDFs are only for "missing" holes, will there be PDF's for all sets? Will there be a way to select between PDF and scans? (...) I have realised this already ((URL) but this cause to to ask even that (...) (21 years ago, 22-Jul-03, to lugnet.publish)
