This is just a quick "heads-up" to let you know that some things are going to
be moving around a bit on the LUGNET webserver. In order to make room for a
newer, friendlier LUGNET homepage while keeping the current news-focused
homepage easily accessible, all of the news content on www.lugnet.com will be
migrating gently over to a subdomain news.lugnet.com (not yet active). The
new subdomain news.lugnet.com will be 100% news-focused and the remainder of
LUGNET content will stay on www.lugnet.com (with the possibility of additional
content perhaps moving to other subdomains later if needed).
I'll post more details as things get closer. The webserver will need to be
rebooted at some point, which may cause page-loading glitches for a minute or
two but shouldn't cause the loss of any data.
As far as moving the actual content goes, it will be gradual (several
relatively small and painless steps) and I'll make sure that older links
(for example what shows up in messages or links from other sites) still
work painlessly with auto-URL-forwarding. Likely, the content will be
first duplicated from www.lugnet.com to news.lugnet.com and then later
removed after it's proven to be stable.

p.s. The above applies only to HTTP (web) accesses. NNTP accesses still
will go through lugnet.com (not news.lugnet.com), although a similar gradual
changeover may happen somewhen down the road.
