PRESS RELEASE
----------------------------------
LEGO Company Posts 17% Increase in 1999 U.S. Consumer Sales; Led by Strong LEGO
Star Wars and LEGO MINDSTORMS Performances

     ENFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2000--LEGO Systems, Inc., makers
of the world's best-selling construction toys, announces a 17% increase in 1999
consumer sales over 1998, as well as a strengthening of its position as the
construction toy market leader. The consumer sales growth is the company's 25th
increase in its 26-year history.

"We are extremely pleased with our 1999 sales results," said Peter Eio,
president of LEGO Systems, Inc., the division of the Denmark-based company
responsible for LEGO business in the Americas (North America and Latin America).

Eio attributes the company's consumer sales increase to an outstanding 1999
product assortment - most notably the new LEGO(R) Star Wars classic and Episode
I lines, LEGO TECHNIC(R) Throwbots and the LEGO MINDSTORMS(TM) robotics sets.

Eio also attributed the company's sales growth to the expansion of
distribution channels gained by household electronics retailers offering the
LEGO MINDSTORMS products.

Also in 1999, LEGO toys were recognized as a "Product of the Century" by
Fortune magazine, and more than 30 LEGO products received national awards by
child development specialists and children's toy surveys for their quality,
design and play value - a company record.

"We will build on our 1999 success and anticipate a strong 2000 as we
introduce many exciting new products, namely LEGO Soccer and several innovative
high-tech items," added Eio.

LEGO Systems, Inc. will unveil more than 100 new construction and high-tech
toys, licensed items and games for the PC, Nintendo(R) 64 and PlayStation(R)
consoles at the 2000 American International Toy Fair in New York City, February
13-17.

"Heading" the company's 2000 lineup is the new action-oriented, build-and-
play LEGO Soccer line, which will be the centerpiece of a 12-city tractor
trailer tour in conjunction with Major League Soccer (MLS).

Other key launches at this year's Toy Fair include the Mybot interactive,
creative learning tech toy for preschoolers and the new LEGO MINDSTORMS Vision
Command System - a LEGO digital camera that gives LEGO robots sight to respond
and react to their surrounding environment.
