Hello Lego Community!
Well, here it is the first of September and in most parts of the country the
first hints of the Fall have begun. Maybe the wind has the merest hint of a
chill, or perhaps you have seen a few bare spots on your trees in your yard.
Perhaps you have seen Halloween paraphernalia for sale at the local stores
already. If you have given any thought to what you are going to be for
Halloween, then perhaps you should consider what you are going to build!
Have you ever seen anyone win a Halloween costume contest with a clown
costume? I associate Halloween with Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction.
As a child, for me Halloween was a time when the mysterious walked in the
shadows, ghosts were just around the next corner and vast alien fleets
watched the bizarre behavior of us strange humans near the orbit of Pluto.
My imagination was always at it's peak at this time of the year. I hope
this is true for the rest of you as well.
So in that vein, everyone is invited to participate. Also, my co-judges and
I have decided that the contest needs somewhat more substantial prizes. In
each of the three areas (Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror), three winners
will be chosen for first place, second place and third place. These winners
will receive gift certificates from Toys R Us in the amounts of $20, $20 and
$5 respectively to help further their building careers. In addition, the
winners will be made special custom contest icons to display on their
webpages for display. Also, special themed minifigs will be given to each
of the contest winners. Finally, everyone who enters will have their
entries displayed on the contest site and will be allowed to use the contest
Icons as they see fit on their own home pages.
So, if this has sparked your interest, or if your interest was already
sparked, stop by the contest site. Anne Sullivan, Felix Greco and I hope to
hear from all of you soon.
