Brickmania to Halt Custom Kits Sales!!!
Announcement made March 18, 2003
Hello there!
This is an important announcement and update containing timely information, so
please read carefully! You are receiving this message, because you have either
bought my custom Lego kits, loose parts, or have otherwise expressed interest in
my Lego creations.
First, the big news is that I will be halting production and sales of all
Brickmania custom model kits as of June 30, 2003.
I have pursued my custom Lego kits with a passion for the past four years, but
it has been at the expense of other important aspects of my life. Aside from
Brickmania, I also run a record label and music distribution company. I'm not a
person to give less than 100% effort in the things I do, but I can not give that
kind of effort to running two businesses at once. Having this difficult choice
in front of me for the past two years, I've finally made my decision - that
being to stop Brickmania. I'm not disappearing from the Lego community, but will
uninvolve myself from any sort of business aspects of it.
Here are some details of what will happen before I shut down Brickmania for
good:
New kits to be completed (see notations below for more info):
Brickmania 208: Panzer V "Panther" German Heavy Tank (to be released April 2003)
The next WW2 custom model kit to be released in April 2003. It has contains 854
pieces and will cost $230 (plus shipping). This will be limited to a single run
of only 10 units. Preorders encouraged (you can pre-pay for your kit now on my
site, to be shipped first or second week of April).
Brickmania 209: Panzer VI "Tiger I German Heavy Tank (to be released May 2003)
The mother of all WW2 Heavy Tanks will be released as a custom kit in May of
2003. I do not yet have a part count, so the final price is also not set. It
will most likely have a comparable part count and price to the Panther and
recently released T-34 tanks. The number of kits being made has not yet been set
and will be determined by customer interest. The pictures on my web site show a
Tan variant, but the actual kit will be in dark gray bricks.
The tan variant is will only be offered on a "made to order" basis and will cost
more than the standard production. It will also be shipped sans two very rare
elements which the customer will have to locate on their own:
4 tan 2x2 round corner "macaroni" bricks (http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/3063)
4 tan 2x2 bricks with round top and two studs (http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/
30165)
Brickmania 20x: Motorized conversion kit for Panther / Tiger (to be released May
2003)
This will contain the Bionicle "Manas" IR controlled motor and elements needed
to covert these two kits into motorized models.
Brickmania 004: Guarded Church expansion modules E and F (to be released May
2003)
These long-awaited expansion modules will be available on a build to order basis
for a very short while. These are still in their final prototype refinement
stages and prices have not yet been set. Additional module C and D units will
also be available for a very limited time, also on a built to order basis. Rough
prototype models are depicted on my web site here:
http://www.brickmania.com/Church/modules.htm
Brickmania CD001: "Brickmania Instructions Vol. 1" CD-Rom (to be released June
2003)
A factory manufactured CD-ROM containing all of the instruction books and
partslist to complete all of my Brickmania kits (except 001) will be available.
The price for this CD will be $40 plus postage and will available for delivery
in June of 2003.
All previously released kits are in their final productions runs and will be
discontinued when they sell out. All remaining kit inventory will be broken up
and / or auctioned off after June 30. Here are the numbers of kits still
available as of March 18, 2003:
Brickmania 006: Guarded Church ($720 plus shipping) = 2
Brickmania 301: 4-4-2 Wild West Locomotive ($150 + shipping) = 6
Brickmania 208: Panther German Heavy Tank ($230 + shipping) = 8
Brickmania 207: T-34/85 Russian Medium Tank ($230 + shipping) = 17
Brickmania 206: M4A3E2 Sherman "Jumbo" American Heavy Assault Tank ($275 +
shipping) = 4
Brickmania 205: SdKfz 124 Wespe German tracked howitzer ($90 + shipping) = 6
Brickmania 204: A6M Zero Japanese Fighter ($90 + shipping) = 5
Brickmania 202: F4U Corsair American Fighter ($90 + Shipping) = 6
I will be liquidating my entire spare parts inventory over the next several
months via my Bricklink store. I have already begun the stocking process, but
tens of thousands more new parts will be added over the next several months:
http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=brickmania
Leftover parts will probably be placed on eBay sometime after June 30.
I may also sell / auction off some of the prototype models for many of my kits.
I will be updating my web site as the final kits are nearing completion. Please
check back often for updates!
It's been great and these next few months should be even better.
Thanks for your support and take care!
