Hi all

I think I need to reply to this with more than "sorry".
My first thought was that two words ought to suffice.
But where's the proportion in all of this ?
Yes, I've posted to the .market tree before, BUT have never really
digested that anything 'commercial' is disallowed out of it.
In this case I thought that people with special interests (like myself!)
would understand what I had to offer and that was the place to say what I
had to say.
To be honest I hadn't heard of marketplace-brickshops (that's true)
and for sure I owe the site-map a bit of reading.
Nothing more. Probably just laziness, nothing cynical.
I'm sure glad I didn't kill anyone.

As for :
financial gain.

Well, at least those of you who know me might get a laugh out of that one.

"It's hard to imagine that he doesn't know how people feel about market
posts outside of the marketplace newsgroup"

Well, I think I do. Some people just love to row. Maybe there is a need for
another newsgroup.
How about lugnet.self-righteous-indignation, where I imagine some recent
posts might be more appropriate.

This is a pretty good example of how telling people where to post stuff
doesn't do much good.  I don't know Ronan myself, but I think he has been
around for quite some time.  The People listing shows that he has been a
lugnet member since 23-Nov-2000.  It's hard to imagine that he doesn't know
how people feel about market posts outside of the marketplace newsgroup.

This is too bad.  If he's been following LUGNET for this long, he does [most
likely] know better.  This is exactly the attitude we DON'T need on LUGNET -
people flaunting the charters and disrespecting other groups for their
financial gain.

I would assert the following on the subject:
1. Ronan is primarily interested in his own needs as a seller.
2. Ronan knows where to "properly" post his stuff.
3. Ronan chooses to disregard others' feelings on the subject of where to
post his stuff.
4. People telling him not to post in the wrong newsgroups is meaningless noise.
5. Ronan obviously has and will most likely continue to post where he
chooses to do so.

If this is indee the case, it is a prime example of why we need a more
active news administrator here.  This needs to be dealt with.  The TOS needs
to be updated and the change announced, and these types of posts need to be
dealt with by an admin.
