You could do something similar with Peeron's search:

  http://peeron.com/cgi-bin/invcgis/psearch?query=3001+3002+3003&limit=parts&anyword=1

I think Steve gave up on updating Partsref since the update process was
very manual work and extreamly difficult for him. That, and LDraw
starting to host their own part images - it was just not worth the
effort.

There's a couple of nice features of Partsref that I've used: It can be included easily in FTX, eg: [LDrawPart 3001:7] I have used that feature quite a bit, but have often come up against the limited number of parts in the Partsref. You can (...) (20 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)
