As an experiment I posted the below-quoted message from my NNTP newsreader by

Oh, BTW, the use of the Content-Type: header isnt guaranteed to be supported
forever. The server now posts FTX messages using a different header, because
Content-Type: text/x-ftx was causing problems for MSOE users (and some other
newsreaders).

Only trouble is, it didnt recognize my signature file. Signature files
should be treated as literal text when submitted using a newsreader;

I dont know about that. You marked the content type, which applies to the
entire message body. Im not sure I want want to go out of my way to support
posting in FTX from an NNTP newsreader either, if doing so means making kludges
like that. :)

otherwise Id have to have a separate .signature just for FTX posts.
|
When I implement sigs in the web interface, itll have the option to create
separate text & FTX sigs.
|
I notice in the Preview that it trimmed the signature.
|
Are you sure that it happened when you clicked the Preview button? Sigs are
supposed to be removed when you click the Reply button, not at Preview time.
|
I dont think it should do that autmoatically, but instead should use the
same fix it for me approach that is triggered by my top-quoting in this
case. (Though I think that top-quoting is appropriate in this context...)
|
You have to admit, its an extremely rare occurrence when you would want to
quote someones sig. You can always cut & paste it in manually. 99.9% of the
time the sig should be snipped, no questions asked, IMHO.
