Hey Steve and/or Dan and/or Jenn!
I know I know, priorities and all that, but I will still drop a small
request. I haven't requested anything for a loooong time, so I'll give it a
shot.
Can we please have an advanced search capability to search by poster name
(or by "anyone but person X")? I think it would help a lot, because:
1. I find it extremely hard to see if people reply to my posts, and often
miss out on important info because I forget to check the relevant groups. I
tried various search strings (e.g. +Dori -Shiri), but I always miss stuff
anyway. A poster-box would allow me to search for a string like "Shiri/
posted by anyone but Shiri Dori".
2. There are certain people whose inputs I appreciate, and it's interesting
to see what they've posted lately.
3. Sometimes I need to find a certain post subject, but mostly get a bunch
of posts by one person. (For example: if I were to search +TLC
+disappointed I would get only Richard Marchetti's posts! etc. ;-)
Of course, I relate this to myself only. I don't know if this matters to
anyone else but me!!

| (...) I think that's a great idea! When I was trying to catch up on those debates, I found it really hard to find information on the posters and the subjects, using the main search directory. | (...) I agree. I think there is scope to overhaul the interface with the search engine here to make it a good deal user friendlier. Something in the format of the google "advanced" search would be good: (URL) like you say, it is a matter of (...) (23 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.admin.general)
