I'm still working on the FAQ (check it out if you haven't already at
http://www.lugnet.com/~330/FAQ/ ) and I've notice that LUGNET(TM) worries
about copyrights, registered marks and trademarks a whole lot more than the
LEGO Group appears to.

I'd appreciate any guidelines on when to use (C), (R) and TM in the FAQ
listings. In the originals I am copying from, they're all over the place,
but not consistently.

My understanding (IANAL) is that a trademark need only appear once in the
beginning of a document; subsequent references do not need to be trademarked
to protect the brand. For instance, if you cruise around www.lego.com you'll
find very few trademark symbols. I could only bearly make out the 'TM' after
SCALA on one graphic, and I never saw TM or (R) associated with DUPLO at all
(is it trademarked by LEGO?) I didn't find anything in their legal notices
about what brands are trademarked or how.

I think it would be perfectly reasonable to put an (R) after the first
mention of LEGO on the top level of the FAQ,  include a statement like this
: "LEGO and the LEGO Logo are trademarks of the LEGO Group." at the bottom
of the page, and forgo cluttering the entries an (R) everytime LEGO is
uttered.

Opinions?

Thanks

Cary
