For a second I was going to ask if part of the problem was cross posting
between lugnet.market.auction and lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade.
Perhaps there should be restrictions on cross posting involving
lugnet.market.auction. I could see a very strict no cross posting except to
lugnet.market.theory, with follow-ups set to lugnet.market.theory (probably
also lugnet.off-topic.*). I could also see allowing any reply to an auction
post be cross posted to a 2nd group if follow-ups are set to that group, the
idea being that a discussion about an auction item might drift into useful
discussion related to some theme or other topic. On the other hand, I'd be
quite comfortable with a new post being made to the new group, which
references the auction posting (or thread).
This whole issue of market posts seems to cause constant problems. I think
there has been a discussion almost once a month. I think that I understand
what Todd wants to accomplish, and I think it is a good goal (if not the
ideal goal in my book), but somehow, not everyone seems to get it, and some
people may accidentally cross a line out of confusion or laziness (the
posting of Scott's that we are discussing right now I think falls in the
laziness bucket more than the confusion bucket).
It frustrates me that some people don't seem to get it. How do we make it
clear what the policy is, and why the policy is that way?
