Hi,

It would seem people can still post and read Lugnet via NNTP, but the HTML
version of Lugnet seems to be lacking.

Hi Chris,

I am afraid I cannot exactly follow your point.

Sorry for not being more clear. I thought there was a lugnet wide problem, and
my post was just a note to bring it to attention, and to be silly

It may very well be that you
experienced a small (or medium) lag between the time of your post and the actual
appearance of the post on LUGNET's website - this is due to the indexing taking
place asynchronously. It appears that all your posts are there - NNTP usually
displays the posts earlier than the web pages do, even if only by a margin of a
few minutes.

Jerry.

When both Janey, and I experienced the same problem, I just presumed it was
system wide. Specifically we both noticed that there was more than (at a guess)
a 10 hour lag between posts appearing via nntp, and those on http.

I would also not be surprised if it was really more like 24 hours. i do not have
any emperical way to measure this. but i know that the last post we saw on http
was time stamped 1:30 am (toronto time) yet, I had 3 posts in my nntp stamped
7:30, and 8:30. Throughout the day, we never saw any new posts.

I have since come home to find a back log of posts over the past 24 hrs.

I thought you were aware of this. I hope I have not caused any confusion

Since we want to continue providing both NNTP and HTTP access, we need to stick
to the mechanisms behind both. Newer, purely HTTP-based forums of course show up
posts immediately, but then there is usually no (or if any then significantly
delayed) NNTP access to those posts.

Regards,

Jerry

Jerry, you are doing a fine job.  Please do not change anything.

Chris

(...) Chris, no confusion as such, no - let's rather call it a slight disturbance ;) No, really, I have cross-checked again, and the only thing I seem to find is that we do have a time zone discrepancy between the NNTP and HTTP news post display.
