Hey all,

So many times these threads begin with a complaint, so I just wanted to point
out something positive.  There has been much discussion recently about the
spotlighting, and various ways to "fix" it (and, I admit, I've added my share of
blather on the topic).  But it's all cyclical.  Look at the highlighted posts
today (Monday morning, April 25):

6 MOCs, across a variety of themes (space, mecha/sculpture, pirate, mosaic,
town, castle/town)
1 website announcement (Jon Palmer re-invigorating the Shipyard)
2 community event announcements (Brickfest and NWBrickCon)
1 meta-discussion about Lugnet itself

If I click on "more" and look at the next ten highlighted posts:
6 MOCs in various themes (microscale, town, Star Wars, space, town, sculpture)
1 website announcement (more chapters added to the Brick Testament)
1 community event announcement (ISD build at SW Celebration III)
1 resource (Bricksaic)
1 meta-discussion about Lugnet itself

The next ten:
5 MOCs in various themes (sculpture, vignette, space)
2 website announcments (BimPcasts)
1 official TLC announcements
1 meta-discussion about Lugnet
1 great post by Mike Rayhawk about "Brikthulu" (I have no idea how to
characterize this - custom? art? humor?)

And so on.
It is easy to stay in .admin or .off-topic/debate and think the sky is falling
and that this is a horrid forum.  But if we look at the actual building (and
remember, many people skip-filter .admin and .off-topic), it seems like this is
a fairly healthy place.

Leg godt,
Bruce

(...) snip (...) This is a good reminder. Sometimes when you get close to something, problems seem overwhelming and all-encompassing. We have some significant issues that need to be worked on, but overall I have to agree with you that LUGNET is (...) (19 years ago, 25-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)
