I've often wondered if it would be possible to slurp up the links from the
member information pages. There could be a check box to select/deselect wether
or not you wish to have your site listed on the main link page.
Not sure if it's possible, or how much work it would be if it is. It would
really simplify the collection of community links, but doesn't address the issue
of dead links.
Just my $.02
