I'm with you on all of this... *except* that I have felt since the beginning
that (and continue to feel that) .brickshops ought to be more like .theory
and be for discussion of the mechanics of BrickLink(tm) (and other venues
should any such arise), not for announcing sales.

I agree that there should be a discussion area for brickshops (even
though BrickLink has its own forums). I would personally like to see a
separate place for BrickLink adds though. I tend to skim them, and I'd
love for it to be easy to find the trade posts not related to BrickLink.
BrickLink has great searching capabilities, though I do occaisionally
look at BrickLink in response to adds.

I'd similarly like to see a section for eBay. If that was done, I think
the number of auctions that don't happen on eBay or BrickLink is so
small, I'd just put them in bst and forget about the distinction between
a "sealed bid auction" and a "or best offer by xxxx" (two offers that
are essentially the same thing, one which by its wording should be in
.auction to prevent flames, the other has specifically been identified
by Todd as something belonging in bst).

As to getting this resolved, we may need to wait a bit more, I think Suz is
still very heads down on non LEGO stuff like recovering from the shock of
marriage, and buying a house and stuff.

Agreed. Which is why I tried to take care with the tone of my post (if
you look at my previous periodic posts on this subject you'll see a lot
more frustration expressed).

I also agree with Frank almost completely except for Larry's exception which I
agree is correct.  But, like Frank has stated many times, simply agreeing won't
get us anywhere.  Some fixes are in order.

I guess since I hold the role of curator for the marketplace groups, I should
get into gear and work on some group charter re-writes.  After some discussion
and editing, I am sure we can work out suitable amendments to submit to Lugnet
Admin for their consideration and possible implementation.  I think this would
be the best course of action rather than requesting that Admin make corrections
single-handedly.

Actually, Suzanne has already partially delegated this. At this point, I
think it's best to wait until Suzanne has time to review proposals and
put the final proposal in place. Both Larry and I have offered
proposals.

For the record (again) I want to state that I like things the way they are but
am willing to make any and all changes deemed necessary by the community.  I
do not police the marketplace groups much, if at all, and if the community
deems a more active curator is needed I am prepared to handle that task.

Actually, as I understand it, curators are not so much moderators (or
"police") as managers of the web page. Of course their dedication to the
topic suggests their opinions and suggestions of appropriate posting are
valued higher than Joe Random's. This is another area I'd like more
clarification of.

Frank
