Problem with change of email address and server authentication

Hi,
My email address changed a while ago, and although the old one is still
valid it has a more limited life span, hence I wish to change my server
posting details. I went to:
http://news.lugnet.com/news/post/setup/
...and changed my email addy. It said to wait until I recieve a confirmation
email, so I did. I have waited over a week and have recieved no reply. I
know my server-side details haven't changed because I changed my reader-side
details back to the old addy and I can magically post this message you are
now reading...
I also attempted to post using the web interface, but the server didn't
accept the message that way (on a side note, is that authentication also
activated via a confirmation email?).
Anyway, I was just wondering whether anyone could fill me in on whether
there's some problem. Is it normal to wait over a week for a confirmation
email?
