The box says 1408; the high actual count is caused by the occurence
of several tiny parts in multiple bags, which makes for an
extra each time (result is ~29 extra parts).

According to the official TLG website, it has 1408 pieces: (URL) TLG (...) (25 years ago, 2-Oct-99, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.technic)
