Hmm, probably because when it's singular it's most apt to appear in a title, as
in "TIE Fighter" being the name, whereas when it's plural it's most apt to
appear as an adjective-noun pair?

| Per the Shop at Home catalog, and the official reference at (URL) changed "Y-Wing" to "Y-wing" "TIE Fighter" / "TIE fighter" is tougher to gauge, as both www.starwars.com and the S@H catalog seem to have inconsistencies here. It almost seems that (...) (26 years ago, 7-May-99, to lugnet.admin.database)
