(...) Oops, I just found another missing message: lugnet.announce:37 So that may be a worthwhile idea, as there are almost certainly more. By the way, the subject of that message was "Disclosure of your real name"--I was just trying to figure out (...) (3 months ago, 9-Jun-26, to lugnet.admin.general)

Todd, thanks for the pointer - I have checked the directory and the last cancel request in there came in back in 2008 (!) so I think it can be ruled out that it happened via that route. I'm putting aside an archive of the last backup before the fix (...) (3 months ago, 9-Jun-26, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

One thing worth a quick check inside is the directory news/art/control If the articles were cancelled maliciously from the outside by forgery (somehow) of cancel-request messages from <news@lugnet.com>, this directory would contain a log of (...) (3 months ago, 9-Jun-26, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.nntp)
