| | Re: Welcome to the Building Arena, IRON MECHA
|
| (...) that's an interesting question Marco. One would think that this should be your one best effort, and yet what if a builder wanted to make a squad of mechas? I will say this. Make it your one best mecha. That said, presentation is everything. If (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

| More WIP from Me. I am on the final stretch of building. In true "Iron Chef" fashion I have now decided that I am not going to make a Bricklink order to finish my Mecha but I am going to use only pieces that I have. So at the end I realize that I (...) | I've never built a mecha, but would love to try and enter just for the fun of it. I just saw this, and noticed the deadline was Dec 31st. If this is too late, I'll just watch from the sidelines. Great idea! Mark (19 years ago, 1-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| That new anti slop technique is great! Nice and compact. I didn't notice those knobby things weren't an "even" height. Technic has inexplicable oddities. (I'd still like to know why the worm gears are too short in the first place. It's a subtle (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| Here we go, I put off posting progress pics for a while because, well, I wasn't making much progress, or to be more precise, I wasn't happy with the progress that I was making. I have two partially completed mechs waiting for scrap and finally this (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| (...) I just got back from a month in Russia today and saw this, and so it seems fated that I should enter (even though I've never tried to build mecha before, so the only person I know I'll out-build is Goldman). Derek (19 years ago, 31-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

I've worked on the structure a little more tonight, cleaning up the hip joint and adding a foot. (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| (...) Interesting Hip technique. I assume that the friction caused by the three plates and the 1/2 technic bushes would allow for posability especially where the hip would only be moving in the x-plane. I like it. Brian (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| My first attempt at a 'sketch' of sorts (experimenting with form & function only, not color): (3 URLs) Not sure yet if I'm overdoing the hip and underdoing the leg joints - this is only my second mech.
