Re: Iron Mecha Entry - Bandolero!

(...) Thanks. For a long time the minifigs thought that space was theirs to conquer. But space was already inhabited by creatures far older and more tenacious than they could possibly have imagined. Mere survival was the best they could ever have (...) (19 years ago, 30-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) My Espagnol is mostly courtesy of Babelfish, so it's a bit spotty. The vagueness of the language and stylized images (Wild Wild West or Sergio Leone?) make it seem more real, somehow. I think the imagination finds it easier to transform than (...) (19 years ago, 31-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Apparently this is the "dog ate my homework" thread;-) I must apologize as well for not getting my entry finished in the allotted time-- I guess I have too many irons in the fire:-( But my idea is too good to leave unbuilt, and so I will (...)   Re: IRON MECHA Results!

With this collection of creations arrayed here, I think it would be interesting if we had a discussion on what we each think defines a good mecha model. My favorites in the list seem spread all over the place, so I must have different notion. Mecha (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) This is like the difference between Fantasy and Science Fiction, which I often like to explain. :-) Science Fiction requires some intellectual rigor and logic. You can certainly make up weird new science, but it has to be self consistent. (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) The extreme definition: Science fiction is an extrapolation, linear perhaps. Fantasy is a random point, connected to nothing. (...) Self-consistency of pseudo science is a drag on the plot. It spoils the fun in Fantasy realms. :-) (...) Yes (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, FTX)

(...) He means the Knight's Kingdom (action fig) joints. I wouldn't avoid them. They're nice and strong and bloody useful. Really the legs just look a little small for the arms, if you used the joints again in the legs and covered the actual hinge (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) Sorry, but Star Wars isn't science fiction.:-) Really, it isn't. The technology is contrived for the sake of the story, which is why it's unrealistic. The space ships have windows! Cap ships exchange broadsides a few feet away from each other! (...) (19 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

I had some requests to see the unaltered pics of the Vore Del Mecha, though that's sort of like seeing a picture of a guy in an Alien suit sipping coffee before the camera rolls. ;-) It's just not scary without the flashing strobes and (...) I really didn't want to become part of this post because I felt so puzzled by what I was reading. I have always held Lugnet with high regard, due to the civillized nature of the people here, unlike most public forums which are not so. I don't post (...) (...) Well, here's where I'm confused. It's really irrelevant whether or not auction posts are welcomed by participants, since they are explicitly unwelcome, as spelled out in the TOS. (...) Topato, tapato. JOHN (19 years ago, 29-Mar-06, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, FTX)

(...) I finally had to go back and read the particular TOS. I had assumed that auction spam was flat-out forbidden; it appears that a group can in theory allow such posts (although I have no idea how this would be decided upon).
