Re: The Great Ball Contraption at BrickFest

(...) I taped the entire loop Saturday starting from my pirate ship. I forgot to tape Gus (sorry, Brian!) and the train unloading itself into the module just after Gus. The module layout on the high-maintenance side of the table changed after my (...) (19 years ago, 17-Aug-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

  Re: All plastic track

(...) I have some questions, too. I'm not a huge train person -- I own only two train sets -- but I'm aware of the 9V system's limitations. Would a 9V train have enough momentum to pass over a single section of plastic track? I'm thinking that the (...) (19 years ago, 17-Aug-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: The Great Ball Contraption at BrickFest

Okay, here's a low-res video of the GBC. It doesn't show my module for very long; the camera was still setting itself up to record and I thought I had stood there long enough, but I hadn't. Anyway, it runs for 9:39, has a couple spots where I had to (...) (19 years ago, 19-Aug-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

(...) Wasn't that sculpture built as a test of some software he had written? I believe you give it a 3D model and it generates building instructions for you. (19 years ago, 19-Aug-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: Ability of newer 9V motors

(...) That's the article I used about a year ago for a train layout -- there are some good designs there. The key is having enough torque to flip the switch -- by using a long lever. I used the simpler designs that don't try to conceal their (...) (19 years ago, 25-Aug-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Does that rubber band pull the switch to the off position? If so, that's pretty clever. I just put my polarity switches directly onto the train transformer on that section to the left of the dial. (19 years ago, 26-Aug-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) I missed your presentation that day. How technical was it? You probably explained NP-complete briefly, and I'm guessing you didn't go into the computer science part of everything except what was necessary. I'm curious if you have a more (...)
