I just picked up a 6473 Rescue Cruiser, part of the ResQ line. It's a hovercraft, and the edge of the craft is surrounded with black squishy angle pieces, composed of a rubber cover and a piece that looks like a technic beam with a lip extended for (...) (25 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

I don't think you're nuts. A 32 bit micro for Lego would be a cool project. I design Printed Circuit Boards for a living and I can assure you a simple design would be fairly easy.
