  March 31st, 2012 SMART Meeting

We had a great meeting last Saturday, with lots of really good line-tracking robots. The people there voted to do the line tracking competitively, so here are the results: For a straight line: 1st: Kyle (34.9 seconds) 2nd: Rose (36.5 seconds) 3rd: (...)   Re: 3D printers

(...) I'm assuming that you are lightly protesting the (URL) SOLD OUT> status, Dave!? (In service to those unaware of the inside joke) JOHN (13 years ago, 1-Mar-12, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: The newer magnets... // "Photos or it didn't happen."

(...) Thanks for showing off the "guts". I had a chance to try out the new magnets last weekend at the alleged train show in Portland with my Maersk train pulling about 5 cars on the layout. In real life, on a 45 degree "S" curve after a wide 90 (...) (13 years ago, 1-Mar-12, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Theed Hangar Encounter

An unexpected encounter with the Sith Lord forces the rebels to alter their plans, an alternate route to the palace for the entourage while the two Jedi deal with the menace.   hmmmph!!!!

So the year after they release the wonderful brick-built calendar (that I just got for Christmas) just happens to be a fraggin' leap year! So yes, you have to rebuild the entire calendar for March!! Grrr!!! Dave K (13 years ago, 1-Mar-12, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: need help identifying set

(...) thanks for the reference with pictures, dave. i think my brain mixed the 6582 and 1687 sets together 'cause i'm remembering it differently but those have got to be the only sets that match what i'm remembering. ..jg (13 years ago, 1-Mar-12, to lugnet.town, lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Kartoffelrækkerne

While I can't comment on the accuracy of the model (I've never been to Europe), I've got to say that is quite an excellent LEGO town. (13 years ago, 29-Feb-12, to lugnet.town, FTX)

(...) Getting back on a very old topic ("since we all know that a picture is worth a thousand of words" - "Photos or it didn't happen."): (2 URLs) Hope you enjoy (despite of destroying LEGO parts) + Leg Godt!   Re: Mathematical proof that you can't build anything with LEGO bricks

(...) I think it's the higher ratio of piece types to set size that leads him to conclude the sets are not as useful for free-form building as they once were. The argument he makes is that if you have a set of 100 unique pieces, it has less (...) (13 years ago, 1-Mar-12, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Mathematical proof that you can't build anything with LEGO bricks

(...) I've been sort of pondering this, and I've concluded that the researcher's conclusion makes more sense if we use as a sample 100 random elements chosen from the "classic" LEGO era vs 100 random elements from the newer Ninjago era. Whatever the (...) (13 years ago, 29-Feb-12, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  need help identifying set

i need help identifying/finding a set. i seem to remember a town/flight set that included a black airplane that had an odd double-tail fin design very much like the 6582 daredevil flight squad plane ((URL) seems like it was available in the early (...)   Re: Mathematical proof that you can't build anything with LEGO bricks

(...) Me too. I love the little details like the frowny face next to the age range, and that the set number is the Number of the Beast. (13 years ago, 29-Feb-12, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Danish State Railways (DSB) Litra EA

Back in December Dennis Thomsen posted his model of a DSB Litra EA electric locomotive on (URL) www.byggepladen.dk>.   Attempting to replace LUGNET server(s) (again)

Dear LUGNET Community, as you may or may not have noticed we have had a few issues with out main LUGNET server recently.   Re: Mathematical proof that you can't build anything with LEGO bricks

(...) In terms of using specific elements as incentive to buy more sets, it certainly is a trend. They finally picked up on a complaint that the Star Wars fans have been voicing for ten years, which is that we wanted a wider variety of minifigs. Now (...)   Re: 3D printers

(...) I built a Prusa 3D printer. I've had it for about 6 months. (one of the reasons I've been quiet on Lugnet) I have tried to print Lego, and while my success with it was limited, I lay that solely at the feat of not getting the printer fully (...) (13 years ago, 28-Feb-12, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Mathematical proof that you can't build anything with LEGO bricks

(...) From what I've heard from LEGO, they might occasionally do that with a particular product line, but each one is evaluated independently. So, whether or not Ninjago will have alternate models is a totally separate discussion from whether or not (...) (13 years ago, 28-Feb-12, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Mathematical proof that you can't build anything with LEGO bricks

(...) I think you're spot-on. He went fishing for empirical support for his intuition and really had to stretch to make it seem to fit. I think one contributing factor is that people who have not maintained familiarity with LEGO pieces over the (...) (13 years ago, 28-Feb-12, to lugnet.general, FTX)
