Re: The TCLTC Changes Its Name

(...) No. It's got John *and* his ego as members ;) (15 years ago, 17-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, FTX)

  Re: 8 Wide Steam Trains

(...) Well, I do recall you mentioning Ross' creations but that was waaaaaay back then. You were still the author of the post. Right now I'm working on a train bridge that will incorporate the smooth curve rail technique mentioned in RAILBRICKS (...) (15 years ago, 16-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: 8 Wide Steam Trains

Before John jumps on my post, when I said, "The larger the scale, the more parts you'll use, and the heavier it will be," I meant that as "generally speaking." Simple boxcars aren't going to be much heavier at 8- or 10-wide than at 6-wide, for (...) (15 years ago, 16-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Recreating Vision Center in RoboLab 4.9

  Re: 8 Wide Steam Trains

(...) 8-wide gives you more breathing room for details, too. 10-wide even more so, but as John said official LEGO wheels don't match that scale. Also, the larger the scale, the more parts you'll use and the heavier it will be, so you need to worry (...) (15 years ago, 16-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

(...) Adding it to a passenger car doesn't work very well. The engine is heavy and the internal gearing is being used in reverse, which makes it very hard to push from further back. The 9V motor running at full power can't get enough traction to (...) (15 years ago, 16-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Converting an Emerald Knight to run on 9 volt track

(...) We had some luck adding a 9v motor to the tender and pushing the locomotive. We did find that it works best if you remove the internal gearing on the locmotive, though, to help cut down on the friction, thereby making it easier to push. -Elroy (15 years ago, 16-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: The TCLTC Changes Its Name

So, it's not really a club but your personal layout? (15 years ago, 16-Dec-09, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, FTX)

  The TCLTC Changes Its Name

Since I have relocated away from the Twin Cities of Mpls/St.Paul, MN, I've decided to change the name of the club. Eventually, I plan on moving to Tucson, AZ, so "TCLTC" will stand for "TuCson LEGO Train Club, but in the mean time, I'm going to call (...)
