(...) You may be able to kick the motor entirely. Have you tried embedding magnets in the floor and walls, close enough to attract, but not so much as to grab the ball? Do you actually need a continual series of states, and the "weight" of the thing on the end of the beam, or just know if something *is* on the end of the beam? (...)
