(...) Having not actually used the new trains, some of this is conjecture. Running one for a weekend on a layout first will give me a better perspective. But.. From what I have seen, I doubt they would be suitable replacements for the existing (...) (20 years ago, 30-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains)

Please pardon if this is an oft-discussed issue... like anything dealing with programming languages, it's probably a hot-button for some folks, but here goes.
