I think what you missed was the possibility to attach more advanced and interesting sensors. The sensors are a basic start- but there are better ones, there are compass sensors, improved non-contact rotation sensors (read as opto-interruptor based (...) (20 years ago, 25-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

(...) Dustin- I learned at BrickFest that LEGO makes track only from time to time. The last run was supposedly 2004. The interval is typically several years. This probably means that we will continue to see old dark gray straights, curves, switches, (...) (20 years ago, 25-Nov-05, to lugnet.market.shopping)
