  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) And if you stop and think about it for a second or two, you'll realize your special case really does deserve special consideration. The average is no wind at all, so the direction would be undefined. (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) Don't you get the same problem at 180, now? 170 + 190 = 170 +(-170) = 0 I think there are several readings that can give you more than one result. For example, if you take two readings of 90 and 270, what should the answer be? 0? 180? never (...) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Duplo Castle / Dragon sets parted out

(...) Joe, The line certainly does have some cool stuff in it. I have two of each set just for me. I will add parts from the other sets as those sets go on clearance. Parting out full retail sets just is not feasible. I suspect it will be real soon (...) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, FTX)

Re: Wanted: book on LEGO town building

--SNIP-- (...) I agree about nice, shiny books. Of course, if we could get enough information and a liberal enough publisher, we could print the shiny book eventually ;-). Tim (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) Here a detailed explanation I found puttering with google. I can't remember how to solve these equations anymore. So have fun. :-) (URL) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Wanted: book on LEGO town building

(...) Thanks, Tim — I confess that I thought BrickWiki was just about the history of LEGO. I didn't know it was a repository for building techniques as well. I agree, that could be quite useful. In some ways, not quite as nice as a glossy book on my (...) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) If I remember right, the way we resolved this for real-world surveying problems and the like was to convert the degrees 180 < x < 360 into negative values relative to 0/north. 350 is -10, 270 is -90, etc. If x1 > 180 then x2 = 360 - x1 This (...)   Re: Wanted: book on LEGO town building

(...) Hi Joe, It's not exactly a book, but we are trying to cover as many of those sorts of things as possible over on (URL) BrickWiki>. Go check it out and if there is anything specific you'd like to see added, put in a request on the (URL) (...) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

Wanted: book on LEGO town building

I know Jake recently got an excellent book on LEGO trains published. I'd love to see something similar, but all about building minifig-scale LEGO towns. I imagine that major sections of the book might include: vehicles buildings landscaping & (...) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) I think using vector math (as you do above) is the right way to go. As for the special cases, meh, deal with it :) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  OT: Math Help

Figured I'd bounce this problem off the smart people in RTLTotonto...This was posted on an automation mailing list, with little resolution: I have a weather station which measures both the direction and speed of the wind and is connected to a PC to (...)   Re: Duplo Castle / Dragon sets parted out

(...) Good for you – the new castle Duplos have a lot of really cool parts, which are quite hard to find on bricklink. I'd encourage you to part out a few of each of the other sets in the line, too. You could be the one-stop shop for all Duplo (...) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, FTX)

Re: Deadline fast Approaching & What to bring with you

My MOC just got bigger... if you were plotting out the Town Planning map using the dimensions entered in the contest entry form, can I get more space? Orient both RCXs so that they are pointing towards the ceiling. Set the RCX transmit power level to high (default is probably low power); there's probably some Lejos function to do this -- all it requires is setting one bit in an I/O register to 1. (...)
