[OOC = Our Own Creation]
Today Adrian Drake, Troy and Ken Cefaratti, Gino Melone and I got together at
Adrian's house for a building session. Upon seeing my Mercury, Adrian
reiterated his desire to build his own car, a Jeep Cherokee, sometime. Since
we didn't have any ideas about what else to build, we decided we might as well
go ahead and build the Jeep. It sure is handy being able to take your pictures
and not have to search for good ones on the web! Since Adrian's supply of
green is a bit limited, we decided to build the model in blue. After figuring
out how to build the destinctive grill (studs out) and the headlights (studs
down), the scale and orientation of much of the model was set. After 8 hours
of building (with Adrian giving solution suggestions, (including working out
the motorized rear wheels and motorized front steering) and pointing out
missing details), the model was complete. Notice the 1 plate (2/5 stud) offset
and upside down fenders and side trim, and other details: windsheild wipers,
rear-view mirror, and more.
Since my website is down as of a few hours ago, the images are on Brickshelf
for now:

Enjoy, and please let us know what you think!

| The model is very well done! The things I like about it are too many to mention, so I hope you are not offended if I mention the things I don't like. I think the chassis is too tall. The real thing doesn't have that much suspension, right? Besides, (...) (23 years ago, 3-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)

| Hey guys, Awesome job, that is one cool car. I'm still trying to figure out at what points exactly does the chassis (upside down studs) meet the rest of the model (right side up studs). It's a real beauty, and I thought the black katanas as (...) (23 years ago, 3-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)

| Wow! I love the attention to detail this OOC has! Lots of little touches like the radio and dashboard make this model really beautiful. And it appears motorized....aw man. Really well done! Joe (23 years ago, 3-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)

| Hi Bram, Well done! Nice details! Keep up the good work. I really like those 'small' models (small, because mine are much bigger as you know). I want to build a 1:13 scale Opel Corsa for my DAF 95XF ballast trailer truck. The car is used to drive (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)

| Bram, you know it's frightening when you click on a thumbnail thinking it's either the real thing or a scale model kit used for reference, only to find out it's actually LEGO. How do you *do* that? Mark W. (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)

| Wow! As both an AFOJ (Adult fan of Jeeps) and the owner of a blue Grand Cherokee I especially enjoyed seeing your amazingly detailed model. The detail is amazing (OK, so whose idea was it to use swords for the windshield wipers? =) -Ed (URL) (23 years ago, 6-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)

| In case anyone's interested, I've created a brickshelf folder with version 2 of the Jeep Cherokee. It features larger balloon tires, cosmetic shocks, a modified steering system, and a reinforced front bumper (which you can't see, but it's there (...) (23 years ago, 17-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)
