Todd Trotter just made a new bike called The Pounce.  You might have seen it
on Brickshelf.  Its kind of a Future Vespa.  I made my own render of it and
some more of the earlier 3 bikes.

Those are very cool!

One question -- what did you use to make the renderings appear more like
drawings? Did I just fall out of the loop and not hear about something or is
this a new way to do CAD designs? If I could make my creations look
something like that, I might just have to get myself into virtual building....!

Glad you like em.
I used Mega Pov to do the renders. Its an addition to Pov Ray. Once I was
ready to render I added a command to have the program draw lines along all
the edges. Here's the command line I used:

global_settings {
  post_process {
        find_edges {
          1, .3, 0, 1.1, 1, rgb 0
        }
  }
}

You'll want your model to be lit up very well, and the lines seem to look
best at high resolutions. I did all these at 1600x 1200. Also the LGEO parts
don't look as good due to the rounded nature of their edges. I also get
better results with no floor.

Hope that helps!

FYI... Anyone rendering the Shiva motorcycle or anything using the 4x7x2
rounded windscreen needs to grab a copy of an updated part. It gets rid of
those "faceted" edges on the curved surfaces.

oh yeah.. minifig helmet... POV enhancements only

By the way Jon, thanks for the info on MegaPov, I wondered how that was done.

Happy rendering,

Paul

pattern : )

Thanks,
Todd

Sure. Let me just change the canopy to the newer part on the shiva and I'll
send em over.

I'd like to have it too, if you don't mind.

Thanks!

Here's the command line I used:

Minor correction. This shoud be:

#version unofficial MegaPov 0.6;  // version number may be different

global_settings {
  post_process {
        find_edges {
          1, .3, 0, 1.1, 1, rgb 0
        }
  }
}

That should work.
