  Director 8 & IR Tower

Hi, I'm trying to find out how I could could communicate with the IR tower and RCX using Director shockwave 8, so then I can use a web page to controll it, I've seen the eight ball website, but it dosn't explain very much about how the RCX is linked (...)   new mindstorms book covers some telerobotics

The last chapter in my upcoming book, "Creative Projects with LEGO Mindstorms" is called "Advanced Communication"... in that chapter I talk about (among other things) how to do telerobotics with ROBOLAB. Doing telerobotics is as flexible as (...) (23 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics.tele)

Re: Easy Telerobotics, no programming needed!

That Math.random is a hack to fool JavaScript into sending messages to WebBrick. Here is how the JavaScript works: First, I make a fake image variable "dummy." When you push a button, JavaScript is given the command to load the image with the image (...) (24 years ago, 15-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics.tele)

Re: Easy Telerobotics, no programming needed!

That's a pretty slick program. It has a clean interface. What did you write it in? VB ? I imagine I can use the camera from Vision Command as a web cam. Unfortunately I don't know anything about web cam's as far as software goes. Can you point me in (...) (24 years ago, 15-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics.tele)

  Easy Telerobotics, no programming needed!

WebBrick is a free program that lets you connect your Lego Mindstorm's robot to a web-page user interface. When anyone on the internet connects to your web page, they can press buttons on the page that activate your robot. There are 6 buttons you (...)   Re: Tele-Operate Me

(...) I've found the perfect way to do this. I should be able to have everyone on a watch screen with cue then when it's that persons turn it changes there screen to the control screen. I'm borrowing the idea found at the Gates Motel (URL) should (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jul-00, to lugnet.robotics.tele)

  Re: Tele-Operate Me

You can combine both techniques. Neither is difficult. With some javascript and .asp you can utilize session variables on an IIS server to do this. (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.robotics.tele)

  Re: Tele-Operate Me

(...) Are you actually controlling your rover in real time. IE is it actually moving around?   Tele-Operate Me

(URL) on Projects, and then Moon, and then "Landing on the Moon", and then Mission (whew!) This should launch a new window where you can register to become a user to run the Moon rover remotely. Right now you have to write code in ROBOLAB, but soon (...) (24 years ago, 25-May-00, to lugnet.robotics.tele)

  Re: Web based control

I did this a while back by calling functions in the spirit.ocx from an ASP page. I used it to control a webcam I made with an RCX and an old QuickCam. I ran it with Personal WebServer on a '95 box and IIS4.0 on my NT Server, but perhaps you can use (...) (24 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.tele)

  Re: Duplex Comms with RCX

(...) I have given this some thought in the past, although I haven't had the (significant!) time that it would take to try this out. I think the best hope for any kind of two-way communication protocol between the PC and one or more RCXes is to use (...)   Re: Duplex Comms with RCX

(...) It seems to me that, given the current hardware, the choices are: send junk or let the tower go dead. My thinking is that if you send junk and trample something, so be it; the tower would have gone dead anyways, forcing you to lose whatever it (...)   Re: Duplex Comms with RCX
