If you are "tight-fisted" (like I am) you might be able get hard plastic
balls for "free".

I don't know if someone finds this disgusting but if you use a deo with a
"roller ball" on top you should get the idea..
Once you pop em' out they can actually be washed... Works fine and there's
no catastrophe if one should get lost. On the downside the might be a bit
heavy.
