Greetings and Salutations,

I am a big fan of the new Designer series. When I saw 4506 "Sea Predators" and
4507 "Prehistoric Creatures" appear on S@H, I ordered them right away!  They
arrived today and I spent all evening assembling a few of the models from each
set. I am so excited I just have to write about them! I think they are my
favorite Designer sets so far.

From 4506 I assembled the featured models of a shark, carnivorous fish, and
squid. The models are excellent, with some nice use of SNOT and hinge
techniques.  This set includes a lot of dark and light blue parts. There are
several glow-in-the-dark tooth pieces and 1x1 cones.

The T-Rex model from 4507 is awesome, and very big!  Over a foot long from nose
to tail. It looks really mean with all those teeth. The model is solid and
sturdy and stands up by itself. Interesting SNOT techniques add great detail to
the head and legs. This set includes many dark red slopes, plates, wings,
wedgies, and two 1x1 brackets. It also has a lot of red 2x3 and 2x4 wedgies.

Both sets include several click rotation hinges that will add a whole new
dimension to my building. These hinges allow the shark and T-Rex to bend and
pose.

The instruction booklets include directions for nine models each, which I think
is more than other Designer Sets, so you can keep building for days.  Of course
I usually diverge from the instructions before long. :)

(...) Could you post pictures of the parts in these sets? I am really excited about the Prehistoric set (and all the dark red)! I've been eagerly awaiting an inventory on Peeron.com or Bricklink.com, but they have not yet showed up. Thanks Jeramy (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) Hey thats the same combo I made at first ;) I really do like this set - lots of great parts and very nice designs to make. The ONLY thing I do not like about it is how the click hinges connect to the 1x2 bricks with the hole in it. For example (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) Well, one of last years Designer Sets (URL) #4101 - Wild Collection>, has 63 model directions in the instruction booklet. I think this is one of the best sets LEGO made in the past years, I can really recommend it. If you don't have this set (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jun-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

I agree with those who said that 4507 is a great set. My only quibble with the set is the instruction book. It might just be me, but the entire book seemed to have a brownish cast. Until I was several steps into the TRex (what I made first), I (...) (20 years ago, 4-Jul-04, to lugnet.general)
