Ahoy!
Another vessel from the current shipbuilding frenzy at Port Brique shipyards,
the lateen rigged Adroit Main:
(More pics here post
moderation).
The Adroit Main is an experiment in using the ten-wide bow pieces, an exotic
rig on a traditionally styled vessel, and, of course, a pair of dragon wings as
sails.
Any comments or suggestions most welcome.
(No, this one definitely doesnt float ;-) )
Cheers

and those swivel guns amidships are well done. The masts and sails are also well
done.
I do think the catheads seem a little too long but such a minor nit, not really
worth picking.

Avast you scurvy bilge rat!
Uh, I mean... I like the simplicity of the design, clean white stripe, simple
sail configuration. Ive been planning to use the larger bow pieces for a
pirate ship myself, so its nice to see that it can work. Oh I also like the
use of the red gear as a wheel. ...Was that inspired by another persons
design? This was the first Ive noticed such a use - one I may well copy!
My only suggestion (and its a minor one meant mostly to appease any need you
might have to receive suggestions) is that the ship might look more finished
with a little rigging. It neednt be the Lego® rigging elements. It could be
just some dark string for standing rigging, from hull to topmast, or some such.
Just an idea...

Hi Richie,
I like the basic look about this MOC but it seems a little square to me. All of
your larger vessels have flared cabins at the rear which Ive always admired so
perhaps you could incorporate something like this here. The large axe looks a
little out of place to me too.
Other than that I echo other peoples kudos on the steering wheel.

I agree that weapons traditionally considered medieval should be used sparingly
in AoS (Age of Sail) MOCs, but they arent entirely out of period, nor unheard
of in Lego® models. Look just above the row boat in this image:

I guess if Redbeard wants it on his ship, we cant tell him not to! :)
