Mini challenges for our meetings should be very simple both to describe,
and to build robots for. The first meetings mini challenge is to build a
robot that will follow the edge of a wide black line. No turn will be
sharper than a right angle.
I like the idea of an edge-tracking robot with a very WIDE edge. You dont
have to be overly concerned with loosing track of where the edge is.
Following a 1/4" line, for instance, is too difficult. Your robot becomes
obsessed in hugging the line. With a wide line, you can concentrate on
other aspects of the challenge. Build something elegant. Or try for the
fastest speed possible. Or try a design unlike anything that has ever been
attempted before.
In any case, whatever you try, have fun! And bring your robot to the
meeting, no matter how it tries to tackle the challenge.
