Hey all, I am extremely happy to inform the Fans of Lego in the Tri-State Area
that the two Lego Stores in the region are now open!
The Pallisades Mall on Rte. 87
and
The Paramus Park Mall on Rte 17
Both Stores are now open for for business!
The Pallisades Mall location had their Grand Opening just last Saturday.
The Paramus Park Mall
location had their Grand Opening just today!
I work as one of the Team Leaders at the Paramus Park Location and I would be
happy to see all of you there!
Ask for me, (Eric Sophie) and come buy some Lego!
Both Stores feature the Pick-a-Brick parts assortment. (please dont ask to
specify what parts are there, there is alot!) - Although I can tell you that the
parts variety will rotate and new parts will be added.
$12.95 and $6.95 per cup. Small and Large.
The stores are really nice and have lots of sets to choose from.
The stores also feature items not found anywhere else!
Come on Down!
Also, I am very gald to mention, (although preliminary) that I have been told
that one of the hopes of the store is to become a hub for the community and
GardenSLUG is more then welcome to either meet at the store or to hold meetings
in the store!
Like I said, this is a new store and we must get into the flow of daily
operations before anything like this can occur.
From what I have been told, The hope is that we can meet at the store and hold
meetings. Again, as time goes on, I can make more details available.
For now, come down to the store, check stuff out and have fun!
It is also my understanding and my hope that we can even get a small part of the
store window to display our creations!
Sorry for being redundant, but I just gotta say again this is the hope, and when
appropriate, Ill pass the info along.
I was so glad to be told that part of the idea for the store is to help not only
embrace the community but help to bolster the community with new people and new
excitment.
We as fans can play a part of this.
I just cant believe how cool the job is!
Can you believe little ol me is now getting paid by Lego!
Whoooo Hoooo!
If you come to the Paramus Park Location, it is near the Garden State Parkway
Exit (Rte 17 North). Ill be there Friday, Saturday and Im sure most of Next
week, my sheduale is not set yet.
Not the one on Rte 17 and Rte 4, that is the Westfield Mall, and its also known
as the Garden State Plaza.
Ok, well I hope to see you all there and I would be happy to have us in time
display our models in a small part of the window as well as hold meetings in or
around the store when the time is right!
P.S. I spent a day working at the Pallisades Mall Lego Store and I got to meet
some AFoL! You know who you are!
Thank you!
Play on!

Congrats on infiltrating TLC! Im sure its only a matter of time before you
make your way up the ladder to a position of obscene power and influence. Once
you are firmly installed as ceo, youve got to do something about those yellow
shirts! Its a great looking store, but those shirts have got to go. Seriously,
congrats on the new job and the new discount. It still seems a little bit like
an alcoholic working at a liquor store, but Im sure youve got it under control
;) -Keith

Eric, enjoy working for "the brick"! You'll find all sorts of fringe benefits
to working for Lego... ;-)
How does Jama look in a yellow shirt?

I went to the grand opening of the Palisades store on Saturday. I am very
pleased that Lego is going this route with the stores. I wasnt blown away by
the selection of bulk parts, but was told theyd be rotated on a monthly basis
an I did pick up a large bucket of Sand Blue bricks.
I am hopeful for a NYC store to open, I dont have a car but was lucky enough to
be up in Westchester looking at foliage (a little late) with friends who do have
a car....we hopped across the river to the mall in the evening.
One thing I noticed was all the Lego employees were white. I was a little taken
aback that in this mall, in this area, this would be the case. I wonder if many
of the employees were just there for the opening and travelled to other
openings.

Finally! I cant wait to stop by and spend some money. Also, congrats on the
job. I wish Lego would open up a store here in the five boroughs, especially
Manhattan or in the Staten Island Mall. I plan on going this Saturday, so I hope
to see you there.

Is that a problem?
I actually spent time assisting in the hiring of people for the store in
question. We had all white candidates applying for the positon less one man that
was so incompetant he couldnt string a sentence together.
Everybody that was picked for the store was selected based upon their
qualifications. Im happy with the team I helped assemble -- even if they are
all the same color.

Rich, did anybody come by who was yellow (i.e. Timmy?)
Hope the store is going great--I know your current manager said it was a nice
store.

No problem at all, just an honest observation. One that I find surprising in
this area, in this mall....and I still find it surprising.

My comment wasnt intended to be taken personally by anyone, it was just a very
surprising observation. I will say that I did speak with 3 or 4 of the employees
and they were very helpful, accomodating, outgoing and nice. Many approached us
to speak with us and ask us questions. Judging from what I saw, I think a good,
professional team was put together as well.

Awesome. :)
I was just hoping you didnt think it was intentional the staff was assemled
like that. As far as I know, the store is still hiring for part-time positions,
so it is possible the color of the staff may change a bit. Not that it should
matter either way...

I just went to the one in my county, the Palisades Lego store today
(11/14/2003). :-) I felt like a 5 yr old in a candy store. Didnt buy anything
from that store yet, it was only for reconaissance. ;-)

Thats a good point, everybody is yellow in a LEGO Brand Store. ;)
I think that standing under that yellow brick for so long actually makes you
start seeing everything blend into the color yellow. It must be a tactic used by
TLC to make guests see all other people as minifigs.
