Hi all,
This past Sunday, (Oct 12), I went to the WAMALUG meeting in Arlington, Virgina,
to pickup some models that will be displayed in the Challenger Center Cosmic
Rendevous gala, which will take place in Houston Texas Friday, October 24.
The Challenger Center is an educational foundation created in the memory of the
crews of Challenger 51-L, with a vision to continue the educational mission of
the Challenger crew. The Center serves to inspire teachers and students alike
to learn about space and technology in a direct, hands-on approach. A member of
the Center attended Brickfest this year and invited SciBrick, in its first
event, to be a part of its Cosmic Rendevous.
Models from Brickfest, as well as other new models will be displayed at the
gala, with representatives from SciBrick attending: Felix Greco, Eric Sophie,
and Joe Meno.
Here are models from WAMALUG that will be at the gala:
from Aaron Sneary:
Astronaut Bust:
Aaron is also providing his Marsbase Module and Mars Rover:
and
and from Nick Kappatos:
the Excavation Drill
his astronaut:
and a Quark:
from Joe Meno
MarsHab:
Mars Rover:
And of course a picture of our sig figs:
The complete gallery from the WAMALUG meeting, post moderation is
here. And the website
for the Cosmic Rendevous is here

Its much appreciated.
To the rest of you, if you havent already sent something to SciBrick for the
Cosmic Rendevous, contact Felix Greco for instructions on shipping to Texas. We
have help from Anthony Sava with shipping logistics to and from.

I was thinking Felix, Eric and Joe could come over to my place and have a small
little get together. Dunno if theyll be free to. But I thought it might be
fun to take apart everyone elses MOCs and part them out to all in attendance ;)
Just kidding...
But hey, if those three guys want to come on over and socialize with the dragon
man, and anyone else in the Houston area wants to show up, youre all welcome
(hey, if youre willing to drive 10 hours just to attend a get together that may
not even happen, youre welcome, too!). I understand the event is in the
evening on Saturday, so how bout Saturday noonish? Or maybe friday? All I know
is that theres this great burger joint that could be taken advantage of, the
TexLUGgers can attest to that! Hey T.J., want some more Tookies?

Just thought Id show what Ive been working on for the event. The detailing
isnt done yet. The short explanation: This is a Human and Sea Monkey coop
project; a long range exploration vehicle built to harness the Sea Monkey
window ability and packed with sensory equiptment.

Ill do a proper posting to space and MOC after the event. This post is to show
the SciBrick brethren that Ive come through on a model :) Hmmm.. I wonder if
Buzz Aldren would like this model-- well, I guess Ill have to ask him!!!
Will post a pic of the donation piece soon.
