According to the December 2001 Australian Issue of Reader's Digest, New
Zealand is the cheapest place to buy, among other things, LEGO, due to their
low import duties, low consumer taxes, low retail margins and weak dollar.

It says:
" A Lego set, for instance, that we found for $75 in Europe (including its
home base in Denmark), was $72 in Singapore, $53.50 in Australia and $49.95
in NZ"

I presume these prices are in NZD.

The article concludes with "...Auckland has slipped from the 38th most
expensive city in the world to live in June 1997 to the 107th in March 2001,
putting it on par with Nairobi (105th) and Bogota (110th)."

Cheers
