  Legowiki

I am thinking of starting LegoWiki, to be about Lego the company, Lego the brick, and Lego the community. A Wiki is a collaboratively created and edited site, where the content is released under a free license, such as the GNU Free Document License (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Good idea. Actually, I was thinking of the very same project under the very same name ;-). My primary goal was it to be a kind of Super-FAQ, kind of merging all the FAQs from different areas of expertise into one, and still maintain the (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

So this will be detailed beyond what already exists in the WikiPedia? A full history of our hobby, and the current state of it? Or just information on building techniques and such? What other kind of stuff would you want to include in it? It sounds (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Thank you. I had hoped for more people to reply, but lugnet.general doesn't seem to be as populated as I had expected. Know of any other lego forums where I could post this idea to gauge feedback? (...) What kind of content would invoke the (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

-big snip- The only thing I can think of is goto the link listed below for more information. (URL) I believe the LEGO lawyers are aware of the problem of people using the company name 'LEGO' in the domain name. However there is not a big group of (...)   Re: Legowiki

(...) I think it's a great idea, apart from the feedback you already got on the name iteself, which seems a resolvable issue. A wiki that's like wikipedia has the distinction of being more long term and broad scope in outlook than many of the other (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Great resource. But not quite the same as a Wiki. Nothing else is quite the same as a Wiki, really. (19 years ago, 11-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Maybe LUWiki? (That's LEGO Users' Wiki.) How's this for a draft legal statement? (...) I would say, go for it. (19 years ago, 11-Jun-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) OK, I have a question.... what will a Legowiki provide us that we don't already have in Lugnet, Peeron, Bricklink and Brickshelf? I am not sure that we need another reference guide. Of course I am speaking with bias here cuz I'm coming out (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Encyclopedic reference. No other site is like that. FAQs can come close if you're lucky but they don't have the cross linking, usually, as they are too much for one person to maintain. (...) If you don't know what a Wiki is, you may not be (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

What languages would people be interested in having at the start of the site? And are there people willing/able to translate between languages? Now about that name. I need to get a final name decided before the Wiki is launched, since it would be a (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Any of those names are fine by me as long as the engines find them, I guess I like BrickWiki (or WikiBricky, because it rhymes...) best... But I'm just a gadfly. (...) *Many* parts have never been implemented. WRT to a wiki, probably this one (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Hi, Gary, Two answers for this: 1. What is a Wiki? A Wiki is a kind of "web in a box". The people who provide content can easily create and edit pages with information, and can equally edit links between these. Think of it as an encyclopedia, (...)   Re: Legowiki

(...) One more point that just popped into my head: External linking. As a Wiki can not and will not replace places like Peeron, a Lego Wiki would need a simple, but powerful way of linking to set and part references. I have not tried to set up a (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Wikipedia is a generic encyclopedia. Terms like "SNOT" or "BURP" might be out of place there, as they are too specific. (...) Why not? > Or just information on (...) Well, it could be an organized form of the the information key postings on (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jun-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Legowiki

  Re: Legowiki

(...) Venkatesh, LUGNET is in the process of "future proofing" itself, so to speak. I'm in Boston having conversations with people and typing up potential directions for the site. Wiki integration is coming up often in my mind. Please contact me if (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jun-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general, FTX)
