Re: Announcing new Legend! —Paulo Renato
(...) Hi Jake, By "legend" you mean it will appear on the same true colors as the first, right? If not, I don't see the point of "legends" anymore, nor i do find the word "legend" suitable. Best regards, Paulo Renato (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Announcing new Legend! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) see [LEGOSet 4554] and then see [LEGOSet 2150] and tell me that a different color, in and of itself, makes a set somehow undesirable. I have both 4554 and 2150 and I like them both. (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Announcing new Legend! —Anthony Sava
(...) I'm not saying I disagree with you Larry, but to play devil's advocate... While 2150 is basically the same model as 4554 in a different color, LEGO never marketed it as a re-release as 4554, did they? If not, it's not *quite* the same thing as (...)           Re: Announcing new Legend! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) You're absolutely correct, it isn't quite the same, badging/positioning wise. It's also a LOT different change, as even LEGO hasn't suggested turning yellow so much redder that it's red... (...) Thanks. Something else to toss out is that when (...)           Re: Announcing new Legend! —Jeff Shiner
(...) But changing shades of colours on re-released versions of old models is something that is commonly done across a number of industries. It might be a reasonable concern if Lego claimed they were continuing to sell 5541s and did not include the (...) (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Announcing new Legend! —Scott Lyttle
(...) Well, then, all those that griped about Legends series ruining the value of their old sets won't have anything to complain about, since the old sets were the old gray and new "Legends" sets are new gray....That means to the AFOL collector who (...)          Re: Announcing new Legend! —Paulo Renato
(...) Yes, i agree, both of them are very desirable. But they are different sets. And if they made one in *universal* tan surely i would get one too :-) Now, seriously, and with all due respect, i think you missed my point. English is not my native (...)           Re: Announcing new Legend! —Jeff Shiner
(...) I think this is a perfect example of why it is called a "legend". They are not creating more of the original kits. If they were you could expect the exact same kit... same kit #, same brick colour, same brick material could even be argued. By (...)           Re: Announcing new Legend! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Exactly. (and Paulo, I didn't miss your point, read on to see why) To be 9V complete, you have to have BOTH of the stations I cited... despite being the same design, they are a LOT different. Further, to be 9V complete you have to have BOTH (...) (20 years ago, 8-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Announcing new Legend! —Paulo Renato
Larry, (...) Although i have both metroliners (being the legend in multiple copies), i must admit i bought the legend mostly for the parts. But if it was in new light grey, there would not be no reason for me to buy it. Again to the point of my (...) (20 years ago, 8-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Announcing new Legend! —Bert Waters
(...) Thanks Larry, I'm still a dedicated AFOL but haven't posted in quite a while. The big hint from me is: either 4554 or 2150 should be the next legend. I'd buy at least one of each again in a heartbeat! Bert Waters (20 years ago, 8-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Announcing new Legend! —Bryan Wong
(...) Haha when I first saw this thread of messages, I got really excited after seeing "new Legend" and "4554/2150" in the same sentence. The 5541 Hot Rod is a pretty nice model, but I would've picked something else (like the Galaxy Explorer). Those (...) (20 years ago, 8-May-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Announcing new Legend! —Paulo Renato
