With some types of paint, the mist can be wiped away with a wet cloth (or
washed away in water): it's just dry 'dust' which has settled on the bricks
(instead of the wet paint+solvent mixture that comes out of the spray can).

!Warning the following post contains graphical description of the mutilation of hundreds of Lego parts! My wife was working on some shelves, and she decided to spray paint them.
