I've been away for a month, forgive me if this has been brought up
before.

Just saw the detailed scans of the 2001 catalog on FBTB
(http://collectibles.echostation.com/fbtb/2/)

It looks like the air-pump in the new Life on Mars sets will power a
pneumatic transport system for the martian minifigs. In
http://collectibles.echostation.com/fbtb/2/sys07.jpg we can see what
appears to be a fig in a clear "transport pod" in the purple
construction at bottom right, though the highlights may just be a
reflection from the glossy surface of the fig.

In that picture and in
http://collectibles.echostation.com/fbtb/2/sys08.jpg it is clear that
the connectors for multiple hoses will slide to allow different hoses
to be connected to the air-pump and select the final destination for
the transport pod.

I don't care much for the color choice of this set, but the idea of
pneumatic transport could be very cool with several of these sets
linked together in a massive base.

John
