Dear LEGO and Vestas,
LEGO #4999 (Wind Turbine) is a promo set only to be sold or given away to
Vestas employees as a gift. (I am not sure). I would suggest and hope LEGO
would release this set world wide through LEGO Shop&home and through LEGO
Brand retail stores. However, I would limited the purchase of 4 per
customer.
Honestly, this is a great looking set and with the engery crisis around the
world. This would be a great business and marketing idea for both LEGO and
Vestas to release this set to the public.
I have to say this set #4999 reminds me of the Maersk Sealand Container
Ship set #10152 and many other promo sets.
Please LEGO and Vestas sign the papers/deal to sell the set to the public. I
believe AFOLs fans would be happy. Not to forget the exposure for both LEGO
and Vestas wind power.
Thank you.

I would buy one.
I sent Vestas an e-mail the other day saying I was a fan of wind energy and Lego
and that I wanted to buy one, here is the response:

I can only repeat that it would be unwise from LEGO and Vestas to actually keep
this a limited edition set. With energy prices soaring, renewable energy of all
kinds is certainly a theme that will appeal to a large community (kids and
adults alike), so LEGO could actually make that an entirely new line, what with
power functions that include LEGO solar panels and such.
It only takes a product manager to finally understand that market potential and
do something.
Ive got money in the bank to spend, all it takes are new LEGO sets I think
worthwhile of spending the money for.
Looking forward to see something happen,
Jerry

I totally understand if the Vestas company would like to keep the set exclusive
to their employees. If I worked for Vestas and was told that I could get an
exclusive LEGO set, and was then later told that the exclusive set was going
to be sold to anyone around the world who wanted one, I would think I sort of
got hoodwinked(1) on the exclusiveness of the set.
However, I do think that it would be a great idea for LEGO to produce a
generic/brandless version of the set. I wouldnt mind if it was a different
design of wind turbine, as long as it was still a big cool wind turbine. I
agree with others that considering the global situation with renewable energy
resources, this set or one like it would be a good seller.

(1) Ah yes, another glorious instance to use the word hoodwinked.
